When using VMware, games or applications to Swap there is a risk that your equipment uses 100% HD access and sometimes 100% of RAM. A standard Windows 8 functionality allows to set as default in services, the “Windows Search” and, in the disc property, indexing files and automatic defragmentation.
You can prevent this by performing a few simple actions. See below.
- Press “Windows” + “R”.
- Type “services.msc”.
- Find “Windows Search”.
- Double click.
- Click “Stop”.
- In the Startup select “Disabled”.
- Aply and click “OK”.
- Clear “Allow files of this unit…“.
- Select “Apply the changes to the unit, subfolders and files” and click “OK”. For all errors, click ignore all.
- Disable the HD indexing options: go to “My Computer” > “HD Property”, clear “Compress this drive…” and “Allow files…”.
- Restart computer.
